MEMBER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Mountain Laurel Chapter is a member-driven, volunteer arm of Wild Ones in CT. Please consider how you can use your skills and creativity to help the chapter better serve its members and the public at large:
- COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Help staff a Wild Ones information table at environmental fairs, pollinator- and nature-themed festivals, Plant Science Day and other events. We can also supply Wild Ones literature and chapter/ecoregion-specific information if you do outreach in your own neighborhood or community.
- COMMUNICATIONS: Help to integrate our website and mass emailing. Share our news and activities through traditional print and digital (social) media platforms. Help us stay connected with like-minded organizations across Connecticut.
- PHOTOGRAPHY: A good picture is worth a thousand words. If you have good photos from our events, we would love for you to share them via email or Facebook.
- DONATE PLANTS: If you propagate native plants from seed or have surplus plants from your garden, consider setting some aside for donation to our Fall Native Plant sale.
- FALL PLANT SALE: Many volunteers will be needed to help set up and staff our Fall Native Plant Sale in September. We’ll have signups as the date gets closer.
- HABITAT IMPACT: In addition to being a good steward of your own property, help to establish or maintain habitat gardens in your community by removing invasive plants and replacing non-natives with native plants for beauty and ecological function. Contact us to learn about projects that are seeking volunteers.
- CHAPTER OPERATIONS: Interested in helping but not sure how? Speak with a Board member or attend a Board meeting to learn how our chapter is run.
Email [email protected] to let us know how you are interested in helping out and a Board member will get in touch!
