An “Eco Park” has opened in West Haven, inhabiting a stretch of the shoreline that had previously succumbed to neglect and been overrun by invasive plants.
The 1.5 acre site now hosts more than 16,000 native trees, plants, and shrubs and promises to improve the local ecological balance while offering the public opportunities to learn about the coast, wildlife, habitats and resiliency.
The City of West Haven and the Land Trust of West Haven are hosting Sunday morning talks at the site with a series of experts on various topics. The final talk, on Oct 4, will be on how to build your own home garden with native plants. The talks are free, but there is a charge for parking in the City lots.
